Oxazosulfyl, a Novel Sulfyl Insecticide, Binds to and Stabilizes the Voltage-Gated Sodium Channels in the Slow-Inactivated State

Oxazosulfyl is the first representative of a novel sulfyl class insecticides with potent and cross-spectrum insecticidal activity, albeit an unclear mechanism action. As potential agent pest control in rice fields, we investigated action oxazosulfyl on nervous system voltage-gated sodium channels insects. After injection 10 μg oxazosulfyl, American cockroaches (Periplaneta americana) were quickly paralyzed, which persisted for more than 7 days. Extracellular recordings revealed depressed spontaneous nerve activity injected specifically affected (in German (Blattella germanica) expressed Xenopus oocytes) slow-inactivated state resulting inhibition currents. The potency other channel blockers to block was consistent their activity. Thus, conclude that mode involves state-dependent blockage channels.
